In the Women in Prison episode ‘The Good Wife and the Quiet One,’ the quiet one refers to fast-food manager Tangelia Brown of Evansville, Indiana. Everything in her life seemed to be falling into place until she met her boyfriend Antonio Swanson (“Lamont” on the show) through a friend on a blind date. They hit it off right away. “He made me feel loved, cherished and wanted,” Brown says in retrospect. He moved in with Brown and her family — she had five children from her first marriage. “He was a real good dad to the kids,” Brown says. “I couldn’t ask for a better person.”
But one night, after Brown heard a rumor about Swanson having a relationship with another woman, she snapped and stabbed Swanson in the chest, killing him. Brown got her 14-year-old daughter to help her wrap Swanson’s body in plastic and push the body in a shopping cart and leave it in the woods. Brown was found guilty of murder and was sentenced to 45 years in prison. Brown’s daughter was not charged with a crime. Supervising detective Sgt. Larry Nelson said: “The best thing we can do for that child is to get her into some counseling.” He added: “(Brown’s other children) will all get counseling, but especially her because of what she’s been through.” Women in Prison airs Fridays at 10pm on TLC.
