In the Criminal Minds episode “Inner Beauty,” while the BAU searches for an UnSub who is purposely disfiguring victims, Rossi (Joe Mantegna) has an awkward reunion with his ex-wife Hayden Montgomery who kept his daughter, Joy (Amber Stevens West), a secret from him for close to 30 years.
Hayden Montgomery is portrayed by Sheryl Lee Ralph. She’s known for her roles on Instant Mom (Maggie Turner), Ray Donovan (Claudette), One Love (Carolyn Winters), Barbershop (Claire), Moesha (Dee Mitchell), The District (Lt. Dee Banks), George (Maggie Foster), Designing Women (Etienne Toussaint Bouvier), and It’s a Living (Ginger St. James), among others. Ralph is also recognized for originating the role of Deena Jones in the Broadway musical Dreamgirls (1981). Criminal Minds airs Wednesdays at 9pm on CBS.
