Firefighter Matt Scarpuzzi invented Quickstop Fire Sprinkler Tools. It’s a device that turns off sprinkler heads after they’ve been activated. While sprinklers are great at putting out fires, when they’re accidentally activated, they can cause a lot of unnecessary and expensive water damage. (Fire sprinklers expel 30 to 100 gallons of water per minute!) Scarpuzzi pitched his business on Shark Tank in 2014.

Kevin O’Leary and the Queen of QVC, Lori Greiner, thought the product would sell well on TV – it’s one of those products that really benefits from being demonstrated. Together the two Sharks offered Scarpuzzi $150,000 — but they wanted 50 percent of Quickstop for their money. The firefighter politely declined. Quickstop Tools are still available on the company website and on Amazon (free shipping).
