When we think of Star Wars, most will picture lightsabers, X-Wings, or iconic characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, or Han Solo. Now get ready to think of Star Wars as a serious fashion line. Hot Topic has recently teamed up with fantasy and sci-fi store Her Universe, to launch Star Wars themed women’s clothing. “There is definitely a need for geek chic, not just as a fashion trend but it’s also an underserved market,” says Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein, who also voiced the character “Ashoko Tano” in various animated Star Wars productions.
The new Star Wars line makes a point of catering for plus sizes as well, similarly with other major online fashion retailers like Peter Hahn, which ensures that equality is paramount in today’s clothing ranges. Of course, this isn’t the first time that the Star Wars universe has found its way onto clothing, with UNIQLO also bringing out its own collection of T-shirts. With the release of The Episode VII – The Force Awakens in theaters December 18th, it’s likely the crowds will be some of the most fashionable we’ve ever seen.
