Olympic decathlon winner Bruce Jenner was born in New York in 1949 as William Bruce Jenner. His father, who was a pole vaulter in the Army (he won a silver medal in the US Army Olympics in Nuremberg in 1945), gave Bruce the nickname Bruiser. When preparing for the 1976 Olympics, Bruce trained 6 to 8 hours every day for four years. Today his son Brody still calls him Bruiser!
The 64-year-old divorcee of Kris Jenner has quit the family reality TV show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Bruce said he’s ditching Hollywood completely. Jenner once said: “I’m the type of guy who fails and fails and fails, and then, as if failure has become sick of him, succeeds.” Sounds as much bruised as bruiser, but it works for Bruce.
