During The Big Bang Theory hiatus this summer, actress Kaley Cuoco Sweeting–who plays Penny on the CBS hit–cut her hair. The Big Bang writers wrote the change into the show. The pixie cut made its debut this week on the season premiere. Lots of fans didn’t love it but hopefully they’ll get over it, unlike fans of the 1990s show Felicity starring the curly-haired Keri Russell. (Russell’s haircut ultimately doomed Felicity and freed up showrunner JJ Abrams to do what he’s done since–however you feel about that.)
Over the summer hiatus Kaley Cuoco made two films that will both be released in 2015: The Wedding Ringer and Burning Bodhi. Fans of Cuoco’s longer tresses can see them in the big Hollywood comedy The Wedding Ringer, where the protagonist Doug (Josh Gad) is a socially awkward groom-to-be who is about to marry the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) but needs to rent groomsmen because he has no friends. The film that Cuoco cut her golden locks for is an independent film, a drama called Burning Bodhi. It’s a story about a young man who returns home to New Mexico after he discovers that his best friend from high school is dead. Kaley Cuoco plays one of Bodhi’s friends, Katy. Cuoco beat 25 other actresses for the role. Burning Bodhi producer Marshall Bear made fun of the director/writer Matthew McDuffie after her audition: he didn’t know who Cuoco was.
