The sequel to the new megahit Guardians of the Galaxy was announced at Comic Con a week before the enormous opening for the first Guardians. And director James Gunn isn’t sitting on his laurels. He spent last weekend working on the script for the sequel while other people waited in line to see his winning collective of superheroes–or what firstshowing.com called his “ragtag team of space misfits” in the original. Now because of the success of the first Guardians of the Galaxy, that sequel just got huge–in the eyes of fans and in the plans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. On Twitter, Gunn said there will be characters added to #2. And let the speculation begin!
In a touching Facebook tribute to his team–also thank you to all the people who went to see Guardians over the weekend–the director wrote: “Thanks to all of you who saw (and are seeing) Guardians of the Galaxy this weekend, from the bottom of my heart. The Guardians are a group of oddballs, outcasts, and geeks. The movie is for anyone who ever felt cast aside, left out, or different. It’s for all of us who don’t belong. This movie belongs to you. And, today, I think we’re doing okay.” Well, we’ll be doing okay once you start production on Guardians of the Galaxy 2!
