Insurers are the new comedians. At least that’s what space aliens might think if they took in a few hours of today’s TV — where they’d be treated to very funny commercials by GEICO, Allstate, State Farm, etc — the big insurers are all in the comedy game.
Maybe it’s a natural synergy: those times when you really need insurance you also usually need a sense of humor. Anyway, State Farm delivers a great “rite of passage” commercial featuring a fun, time-tested family dynamic and Beige Betty, a broken-down wood-paneled station wagon being re-gifted to a young son as his older sister moves on to her new ride (with new insurance, of course). And that re-gift? It’s a birthday present no less, to a very unhappy recipient. The parents are very cool, by the way, knowing exactly how unnerved their son is by Beige Betty! Check it out:
The younger brother/son who gets hand-me-down “Beige Betty” from his parents is portrayed by actor Austin Zajur. If he looks familiar, Zajur has also been watching a robot named Evelyn play FortniteΒ lately, in a funny spot for Sprint. Recent appearances on the likes of Speechless is just the beginning for this talented, scene stealing actor. You can follow him on YouTube, Instagram and all the usual places. Next up for Zajur is the big screen appearance in Scary Stories To Tell in The Dark, slated for 2019. If you want to see Austin in a movie before then, check out Fist Fight (2017) starring Ice Cube, Charlie Day and Tracy Morgan.
