Zomm is a device that alerts you if you forget your keys or phone. When the device is attached to your keychain, it will alert you if you walk away from your phone (about 20 or 30 feet away). It will vibrate and light up. If that doesn’t get your attention, an alarm will activate (and get louder and louder until you turn it off). You turn off the alarm by pressing a button on the device. Or, you can use the Zomm to find your keys. Or, use it for emergencies – you can program anyone’s number in it. The founder of Zomm, Henry Penix of Tulsa, Oklahoma, pitched his tech business on Shark Tank in October 2012. He went into the Tank seeking a whopping $2 million investment in exchange for 10 percent equity. Alas, he didn’t get a deal.
Zomm, aka the “Wireless Leash”, is still available for purchase online including at Amazon, see link above. The original Wireless Leash by ZOMM (which comes in black, white and pink) retails for $49.95; the ZOMM Wireless Leash Plus sells for $79.95. The ZOMM Wireless Leash Plus allows you to answer incoming calls while you’re driving, and helps you geo-tag the location of your car.
Penix is currently working in the real estate business. According to Tulsa World, in July 2017, Penix hosted an open house for Oak Leaf Estates, a 34-lot gated community in south Tulsa. Penix said, “sharing this property with fellow Tulsans has brought me great joy.” At that time, Penix reported that 12 of the lots (each a half-acre) had been sold. He bought the property in 2000 (see below). New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC.
