The Modern Christmas Tree is an alternative to a live tree and an artificial tree. The classic model is a 7.5 foot tall metal structure with built-in rings that can hold approximately 200 glass ball ornaments. The Modern Christmas Tree is collapsible and comes with a tree storage container so you can use it for years. The Modern Christmas Tree costs $799. The undecorated version of the tree sells for $399. There is a 6-foot tree too ($329 decorated; $199 undecorated). The entrepreneur behind The Modern Christmas Tree is Matt Bliss. (He has refined his late grandfather Lawrence “Bud” Stoecker’s family holiday tree design from the 1960s — Stoecker made his living as an architect building modern A-frame homes in the Rocky Mountains.) Bliss is pitching The Modern Christmas Tree on Shark Tank on December 3.

It will be an interesting episode to watch as Bliss is competing against Ryan Kenny and his Christmas Tree Hugger. Shark Kevin “Mr. Wonderful” O’Leary tends to hate seasonal businesses. But billionaire Mark Cuban sometimes doesn’t mind — he invested $150,000 in The Living Christmas Company in 2012. (Though the Living Christmas Tree Company, because it recycles the trees, isn’t strictly seasonal.) Note: Living Christmas Company has already sold out for 2017. Shark Tank airs Sundays at 9pm on ABC. [33 Shark Tank Christmas Gifts — Men, Women, Kids, Pets]
