Arby’s locations experimenting with a venison burger were quickly overwhelmed by demand, leaving hungry diners making do with the restaurant’s famous roast beef. Arby’s tried the venison burger — which is a thick cut that looks like a steak on a bun — in Nashville and later in Atlanta, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Select locations in Michigan, and Pennsylvania will also add the venison burger during November — see below. Arby’s says the sandwich sold out on its very first day of testing in Nashville.
Starting in states that have a lot of deer hunting is smart, of course. There the cost of educating the customer about venison is virtually zero. But Arby’s thinks its venison burger will play all over the country. “We were very confident that hunters and even non-hunters would love this sandwich,” said Luke DeRouen, Arby’s Director of Brand Communications. “But it’s safe to say that the response has exceeded our lofty expectations.” Arby’s is only beginning by targeting the “more than 20 million hunters across America.” Select locations where the venison burger will be available during the remainder of November are:
