Three friends from Mountain View, California — Zach Mangum, Chris Finken and Chris Lee — are behind PicJoy, an app that organizes photos on smartphones. Users can sort through photos by custom tags, e.g. location, weather, season, event, time, etc., and add brief stories like “Brandon’s first steps!” PicJoy, which is free on iTunes and Amazon, will be pitched on Shark Tank.
Shark investor Kevin O’Leary might be interested in PicJoy after seeing great success with his investment in GrooveBook, the app that lets users choose up to 100 photos a month from their smartphones and print them into a bound book for $2.99 a month. GrooveBook was recently acquired by Shutterfly for $14.5 million. Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
