Stephen Chen is the entrepreneur behind Petnostics, an app that allows pet owners to check their pet’s health with their iPhone. Petnostics comes with a cup that’s used to collect a dog’s or cat’s urine. A colorimetric chemical test strip inside the cup reacts to the urine (changes colors) and then pet owners can use the app to read the test results and deliver a diagnosis.

Chen says little urine is needed for an accurate report, so it shouldn’t gross pet owners out too much. He’s pitching his patented urine-collection cup and Petnostics app on Shark Tank. The big question is: Are people willing to collect their animal’s urine at home? Chen says yes, for two big reasons. One, Petnostics means you don’t have to trick/force your cat into a cage to bring them to the veterinarian’s office, and two, it’s not as expensive. The Petnostics app is currently available for free on iTunes. A Petnostics Urine Test Kit (one, single test) is available for on the website and for $9.99 on Amazon (see link/image above). Shark Tank airs Fridays at 9pm on ABC.
