“He doesn’t overthink much,” says Warriors head coach Steve Kerr about superstar 2-time NBA MVP Steph Curry. The not overthinking is key to Curry’s success, according to Kerr. It’s the thing that makes him “not hesitate to shoot a fadeaway 30-footer.” It’s also, however, the thing that has lately been getting Curry into foul trouble. (Curry has been caught reaching in against opposing guards — so much so that Kerr says he wrote “No” and “Reach” on his shoes to remind him.)
Kerr calls Currry “such a fascinating player.” But — and this will come as a surprise to many Warriors and NBA fans — Kerr says “Steph sometimes loses focus.” Wow, for a 2x league MVP who leads a Golden State team that is contending for its fourth NBA championship in five years, that’s almost shocking. Steph Curry, the most dialed in player in the NBA, lose focus? Sounds wrong. But it depends on your level of expectation, and both Kerr’s and Curry’s are very high.
