Basketball superstar LeBron James may not be in the NBA playoffs this year, but the GOAT of his era is still busy pursuing his goals. James’s Hollywood conglomerate SpringHill Entertainment is crushing with his HBO show The Shop and his exciting Million Dollar Mile obstacle course reality competition on CBS — and James is making the much-awaited sequel to Space Jam, the Michael Jordan – Bugs Bunny blockbuster. But his biggest accomplishment, even if it gets less attention than dunking with Lola Bunny, is the I Promise School James set up in Akron, Ohio.

James knows education is more important than entertainment in the big scheme of things. (Hey, his show The Shop aims to entertain and educate, delving down deep into real issues like race and equality.) James recently tweeted to the young achievers at the I Promise School: “Kids you are smart, amazing, talented, and nothing short of INSPIRATIONAL! Teachers & all the staff ❤️❤️ ya’ll are the right ones, the real ones on this journey changing lives.”
Former First Lady Michelle Obama took notice and doubled down on the pride, writing: “So incredibly proud of these students! Everyone at @IPROMISESchool—teachers, staff, and of course those incredible young people—is showing what can happen when we believe and invest in our kids.”
James and Obama both know well that kids who see the path lighted up will take it, and how bright must that path be today for the I Promise School students? Because in the last 24 hours they know they have made both LeBron James, Michelle Obama, and their millions of followers proud. For more about the I Promise School, check it out here.
