President Donald Trump was the keynote speaker at the 2017 North America’s Building Trades Unions convention on April 4. The organization represents 3 million skilled craft professionals in the United States and Canada. During his speech, the former real estate mogul Trump broke the ice by saying: “Did you ever think you’d see a president who knows how much concrete and Rebar you can lay down in one day?”
Rebar is short for reinforcing bar — the steel bar that’s used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry structures. It’s also the name of the high-end lounge in the 1400 foot tall Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago which offers a taste of a 25-year-old Macallan for $200, among other things.
