U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), who lost his reelection bid in the GOP primary to Trump-endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, continues to warn his party about pushing for the President’s SAVE Act and losing the midterm elections as a result.
Cornyn wrote Saturday on social media: “I marvel at the keyboard warrior-geniuses and grifters who are ignorant of Senate rules and precedents who have miraculously become experts in its arcane rules. Promising the moon and stars and yet destining Republicans for failure is a very effective way to demoralize our base and elect more Democrats in the midterms.”
[NOTE: Trump campaign advisor Alex Bruesewitz replied, “Cool story dude. Thanks for sharing. Now pass the Save America Act.”]

New York Times reporter Trip Gabriel replied to Cornyn: “One of the ‘keyboard warrior-geniuses and grifters ignorant of Senate rules’ is clearly implied to be in the Oval Office.” Cornyn replied to the interpretation, writing: “Fake news.”

San Antonio Express-News reported Friday: “U.S. Sen. John Cornyn isn’t against the voter registration legislation that President Donald Trump wants. The Texas Republican is a co-sponsor of the bill, but you wouldn’t know it from the backlash he is getting on social media.”
[NOTE: The Senate voted on the legislation earlier this month and Republicans were 10 votes short of the 60 needed to get it to the floor. The GOP would need at least seven Democrats to agree, which Cornyn called a “fantasy.”]
