President Donald Trump was invited by the North America’s Building Trades Union’s Sean McGarvey and the entire Governing Board of Presidents to speak at the organization’s 2017 convention. Trump posted a five-minute clip from his speech on April 4. In his speech Trump refers to the remarkable construction of the Empire State Building in New York, which happened during the Depression and was completed in 13 months. “Nowadays you couldn’t even get a building permit or approval in that amount of time.”

Trump said “They did a good job, those ironworkers, you better believe it.” It’s interesting to note that the construction of the Empire State Building: “involved 3,400 workers, mostly immigrants from Europe, along with hundreds of Mohawk iron workers, many from the Kahnawake reserve near Montreal.”
Thank you Sean McGarvey & the entire Governing Board of Presidents for honoring me w/an invite to speak. #NABTU2017 https://t.co/x3IVNT5btk pic.twitter.com/j0CRhiyvDu
