At a rally in Marietta, Georgia on Wednesday, President Donald Trump belittled U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff (D-GA) — who’s running for re-election against Trump-endorsed Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) — by calling him “Pee-wee Herman.” Trump added: “People don’t know this, but I beat him once before, as a congressional candidate.”
[NOTE: Trump said when Ossoff ran for a House seat in 2017 and was “easily winning,” he “got involved in the race” and backed Karen Handel, who beat Ossoff in a runoff election. Handel won the special election against Ossoff by 9,282 votes. She succeeded Tom Price who became Trump’s HHS Secretary during the first Trump administration. Handel lost her re-election bid in 2019 to Democrat Lucy McBath, who continues to represent the 6th congressional district in the House.]
Trump added a backhanded compliment to Ossoff by saying: “But I have to hand it to him because, instead of being a congressman, he later became a senator. If he was a congressman, he probably wouldn’t have run. Who knows? But he was easy to beat.”

After the rally, Ossoff drew attention to the absence of his GOP opponent Collins at Trump’s rally.
Ossoff’s team wrote: “Mike Collins was not present for the president’s rally in Georgia today. And the conservative paper, The Washington Examiner, was writing that this actually gave Donald Trump cover to avoid having to address Mike Collins’ scandals — because we’ve learned in recent weeks that Mike Collins’ office was briefing Nick Fuentes and other prominent white supremacists on its efforts on behalf of a prominent Holocaust denier, and that Mike Collins has had a neo-Nazi propagandist based on his property. And still now, a week after that CNN reporting, refuses to answer whether he or his business or his campaign or his office have paid this neo-Nazi propagandist.”

After the dinner, Trump said he didn’t know anything about Fuentes, that West had brought Fuentes to the dinner, and called the meeting “quick and uneventful.”]
