After the U.S. Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship this week (6-3), striking down President Trump’s executive order, MAGA-aligned Congressman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) wrote on social media: “The State Department should IMMEDIATELY cease to give out visas to pregnant applicants. Sorry, Birth Tourism cannot continue.”
[NOTE: An estimated 250,000 children are born to undocumented immigrants and temporary visitors each year, according to a Bloomberg Law report.]

Sorry, Birth Tourism cannot continue.
In the SCOTUS ruling, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote for the court: “Citizenship, then and now, was the right to have rights — to freely participate in our political community.” He added, “The framers of the Fourteenth Amendment extended that promise to every free-born person in this land. We keep that promise today.”
When former U.S. Senator Jeff Flake (R-AZ) responded to the ruling and wrote, “The Supreme Court did the right thing by upholding birthright citizenship,” Boebert replied, “Sometimes the Old Guard reminds us how bad the GOP was. Glad we ran these RINO’s out of the party.”
[NOTE: Flake this week endorsed Texas State Rep. James Talarico, the Democratic nominee running against Trump-endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Senate race to replace outgoing Sen. John Cornyn. Flake wrote of his decision: “When considering a candidate for public office, character is a more important consideration than policy. Policies change. Character remains.”]

Boebert’s MAGA-aligned congressional colleague, U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN), responded to the SCOTUS ruling by introducing legislation to ban pregnant foreigners from entering the U.S.
