Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt (The Hills, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Celebrity Big Brother, Wife Swap) announced today that he’s running for Mayor of Los Angeles. After losing his and wife Heidi Montag’s home in the Pacific Palisades fires in January 2024, the L.A. native has become an outspoken critic of Mayor Karen Bass and Governor Gavin Newsom.
Pratt said at the campaign launch event, that his campaign will “go into every dark corner of L.A. politics and disinfect the city with our light. And when we are done, L.A. is gonna be camera-ready again.”
President Trump’s Special Presidential Envoy for Special Missions and the current Director of the newly renamed Trump Kennedy Center, Richard Grenell, responded to Pratt’s announcement on social media and wrote: “I endorse @spencerpratt for Mayor of Los Angeles and will help raise money for him. Transparency is what we need. Spencer has the passion and the drive to make positive change for Los Angeles.”

Note: Grenell, who is also an outspoken critic of Newsom, considered running in the 2021 California gubernatorial recall election, but then appeared on Fox News’ The Sean Hannity Show to announce that he would not run as a replacement candidate. The majority of California voters chose not to recall Newsom.
