Georgia’s Lt. Governor Burt Jones, who received endorsements from President Trump and Vice President JD Vance, is in a runoff election against fellow Republican candidate and healthcare executive Rick Jackson to become the next Governor of Georgia.
[NOTE: Jones received 38 percent of the primary votes; Jackson received 33 percent.]
Whichever Republican wins Tuesday will face Democratic nominee and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms in the general election in November.
On Monday, Donald Trump, Jr. praised Jackson on social media. He wrote: “Regardless of what happens in the Georgia Governor’s race tomorrow, we should celebrate the patriots building up MAGA and an America First economy like @RickJacksonGA has.”
He added: “This has been a hard-fought race with a lot of mudslinging, but I know Rick Jackson to be a good man – and that counts for a lot.”
In a second post, Trump added: “Btw this is not an endorsement of Rick and I think @BurtJonesforga is a great guy too. My only point is that no matter who wins tomorrow, it’s a victory for MAGA.”

Trump Jr. is receiving a lot of negative feedback from the Right for saying positive things about Jackson. MAGA supporters are leaving comments including “I assume your account has been hacked. Jackson IS NOT America First. A hard NO!”
Another wrote: “Stay out of it Jr. You did see your dad endorsed @burtjonesforga. Please stop muddying the waters. If this is really you, Jr, you have lost the bubble. Just sit down and be quiet. Georgia does not need anybody else weighing in at the last minute…. If you are contradicting your father, you are dumber than I ever thought.”
Garland Favorito, co-founder of VoterGa.org whom The Atlanta Journal-Constitution called “Georgia’s most influential conspiracy theorist,” replied to Trump: “DJTjr, you can’t possibly believe what you wrote. You are smart enough to know Rick Jackson has spent an estimated $170 million trying to destroy your father’s MAGA movement here. More than half of that was false negative advertising against your father’s endorsed gubernatorial candidate Burt Jones while Jackson claimed to be on the ‘Trump train.'”
Favorito added claims that Jackson “never donated to your father or any MAGA candidate while they were running for office. He donated to Mitt Romney and Stacy Abrams while his wife, who is a Democrat, donated to Jon Ossoff. Pretending that you are blind to all of this is an insult to millions of Georgians who are fighting against Rick Jackson to preserve your father’s movement here.”
