When MAGA-aligned former college football coach, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), learned that New York Governor Kathy Hochul ordered New York City landmarks, including One World Trade Center, lit green for Muslim American Heritage Month, Tuberville raged against the decision on social media.
Tuberville wrote: “Need I remind you that it was ISLAMIC TERRORISTS who destroyed the World Trade Center 25 years ago, @GovKathyHochul ??? This is a slap in the face to the families of the nearly 3,000 victims who were MURDERED and the thousands INJURED on September 11th.”
Governor Hochul’s office replied to Tuberville’s post: “Religious freedom isn’t complicated. New York gets it, even if the densest man in the U.S. Senate doesn’t.”

Note: According to The Washington Institute for Near East Policy: “Muslim refers to a person who follows the faith of Islam, but the term ‘Islamic’ often gets confused with Islamism, a political ideology seeking to implement Islamic law (Sharia) as state law, which many Muslims do not support.”
This isn’t the first time Tuberville has targeted Muslim Americans who follow the faith of Islam.
Last month, Tuberville was called out by U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) for “bigot zealotry” after Tuberville wrote: “Islam is not a religion. It’s a cult. Islamists aren’t here to assimilate. They’re here to conquer. Stop worrying about offending the pearl clutchers. We’ve got to SEND THEM HOME NOW or we’ll become the United Caliphate of America.”
Tuberville on Monday filed his papers to run for governor of Alabama. Former U.S. Senator Doug Jones (D-AL) is running against him in the 2026 gubernatorial election — a rematch of their 2020 Senate contest. (Incumbent Governor Kay Ivey, a Republican, is term-limited.)
Note: Regarding the Islamic terrorists responsible for the September 11 attacks: 15 of the 19 men were citizens of Saudi Arabia, the country that in May promised President Trump to invest nearly $1 trillion in the U.S.
