When the White House announced and celebrated “CUFFING SZN” on social media with imagery of federal agents handcuffing what it characterizes as “criminal illegal aliens,” the Governor of California — and potential 2028 Democratic presidential candidate — Gavin Newsom responded with an AI-generated video of President Donald Trump, Defense/War Secretary Pete Hegseth and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller in handcuffs, sitting on a curb before being hauled into a police car where all three men cry.

Peter Navarro, Trump’s senior trade counselor, replied to Newsom: “I went to prison, defending the constitution because of woke [expletive] like you who Weaponized our justice system. This isn’t close to funny. All you are doing is inciting more violence.”
Note: President Trump has a history of publishing AI-generated videos to ridicule his Democratic opponents, with the most famous example depicting Trump wearing a crown in a fighter jet that drops poop on citizens in American cities.
Anti-Trumpers on X are replying to Navarro by objecting to his persecution narrative. “You went to prison for defying a congressional subpoena,” wrote one, echoing others.
Navarro was convicted of two counts of criminal contempt of Congress. He refused to provide documents and refused to testify to the January 6 Committee, and was sentenced to four months in federal prison. Newsom replied to Navarro’s complaint with a snowflake emoji.
