American country music singer-songwriter John Rich of the duo Big & Rich announced this week on social media that he has been named by President Donald Trump as the “Special Envoy for American Landowners.”
Rich, who endorsed Trump in 2016, 2020, and 2024, wrote: “In this role, I look forward to representing and advocating for landowners’ rights against any entity that chooses to harass or intimidate them in an effort to achieve goals contrary to those of the President. I look forward to defending our farmers and ranchers.”

Fellow MAGA supporters, including former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines, replied to Rich: “Congratulations! No one more suited than you. Grateful for you!”
Self-described Jan6 advocate Trisha Hope replied to Rich: “This is good to hear, we need real men in a role that matters to the people. I don’t think you are the kind of man looking for a title, I think you are the kind of man who looks for results. Congratulations.”

When Hope received negative feedback about Rich working for the federal government without experience (“Oh, stop. He has no experience. None.”), Hope replied: “I think the role is to listen and advocate. He’s been doing that for a long time.”
[NOTE: In February, Rich attended a press conference with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins where she announced the launch of the Farmer and Rancher Freedom Framework, described as “a plan to protect, preserve, and partner with American agriculture, while ending onerous regulations and the weaponization of government against American farmers and ranchers.”]
Rollins cited Rich’s work with the Department of Agriculture “to prevent the Tennessee Valley Authority from seizing productive farmland in Cheatham County to build a new natural gas power plant.”
[NOTE: Rich also co-founded Old Glory Bank with Trump’s former HUD Secretary Ben Carson, former Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin-Christensen (R), and conservative talk show host Larry Elder.]
