Ryan Custer is the entrepreneur behind Cougar, an energy drink for women (zero calories, zero carbs, zero sugar). He pitched his product on the Season 3 finale episode of Shark Tank in 2012. He asked for $150,000 for a 30 percent stake in the company, which had made only $60,000 in sales over three years.
Custer didn’t get an investment or a good review on the show — Barbara Corcoran said Cougar tasted like chalk — but that hasn’t stopped Custer for selling bottles of Cougar Energy. A 12-pack of 2oz. Cougar cans is sold for $29.99 on DrinkCougar.com. Custer is also selling Cougar Throne Chairs on the website for $450.
