Snapchat is known for its popular app that enables users to send texts and images that quickly disappear. Now the company want users to stay a little longer. The company just launched Discover – a new feature that curates news stories from massive media companies including Yahoo! News, CNN, People, Daily Mail, ESPN, Food Network, among others.
But Discovery is not social media, the Snapchat team wants you to know. “Social media companies tell us what to read based on what’s most recent or most popular. We see it differently. We count on editors and artists, not clicks and shares, to determine what’s important.” Snapchat claims that with Discover it has “built the technology to serve the art: each edition includes full screen photos and videos, awesome long form layouts, and gorgeous advertising.”
