Your kid wants an iPad. Or she thinks she does. What she really wants is a tablet. At least you hope so, because an iPad is gonna cost you. But companies do, thankfully, make starter tablets–think of them as gateway drugs. (And if you’ve ever seen a kid zone out in front of an iPad you know the analogy is legit.) Besides if you buy your second grader an iPad with every feature in the world–you’ll just have to turn off most of them.
Here are three choices that are real-looking–not kids stuff–that shouldn’t disappoint. All less than $150.
- Kurio 7S Kids, 7-inch tablet with Android 4.2 & 8GB memory. Walmart lists this at $49.88 when doors open.
- Nabi 2 Nickelodeon Edition Wi-Fi Tablet, 8GB memory. Walmart says $99 for this one, while it lasts.
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 Kids Tablet. Toys R Us at 129.99 looks best on price here.
