U.S. Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN) on Thursday amplified a social media post by MAGA influencer Benny Johnson which criticized Chief U.S. District Judge Denise Casper of Massachusetts for blocking President Trump’s executive order requiring proof of citizenship when one registers to vote.
Casper said on Wednesday, “the Constitution does not grant the President any specific powers over elections,” which is given to states and Congress.
Johnson, who noted that Casper was appointed by President Obama, asked, “Why do all of these federal judges always seem to be protecting illegal aliens?”
Burchett replied, “And why aren’t we impeaching any judges?”

Because "I don't like his/her ruling," is not grounds for impeachment of a judge. And doing otherwise would end the independence of the judiciary.

Lawyer Stephen Richer, who was elected in 2020 as recorder for Maricopa County, Arizona, replied to Burchett: “For the same reason we’re not impeaching the 6 Supreme Court justices who ruled today in Mullin v. Doe. Because ‘I don’t like his/her ruling,’ is not grounds for impeachment of a judge. And doing otherwise would end the independence of the judiciary.
Richer added, “And I’m going to guess, @timburchett, that you didn’t read much of the order. Might you disagree with it? Sure. Is there any evidence it’s gross misconduct or neglect of duties? None.”
