While most people including many MAGA supporters condemned President Donald Trump’s reaction to the brutal murders of Hollywood filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele, the negative feedback — including from fellow Republican lawmakers — didn’t stop Trump from doubling down on his criticism of Reiner after his first incendiary social media post about it.
When the President was asked Monday if he stood by his initial remarks, Trump said: “Well, I wasn’t a fan of his at all. He was a deranged person as far as Trump is concerned.” Saying Reiner was one of the people behind the “Russia hoax,” Trump added, “I thought he was very bad for our country.”
Trump-supporting equity fund manager and real estate investor Grant Cardone, an entrepreneur who owns and runs numerous businesses, reacted to Trump’s disparaging remarks, writing: “I agree with Trump about Reiner family. While it’s terrible how the family died, when anger & hate are perpetuated by the father the family will be angry & hateful.”

Several social media influencers objected to Cardone’s amplification of Trump’s messages, including former Republican John Jackson who wrote, “Knew you’d go here. Will excuse anything.” Lofty Ventures founder Christopher Deutsch wrote to Cardone: “This is where we disagree.”
Former MSNBC star and Trump antagonist Keith Olbermann aimed Cardone’s words back at the President’s family: “So Fred Trump turned Donald With 47 L’s into the worst human on the planet?”
Another X follower also flipped the script, replying: “Thanks for explaining why Eric and Don Jr. are so hateful. Makes perfect sense. Grant really is a genius.”
Note: Cardone’s wife, Elena Rosaia Lyons, fundraised for Trump-endorsed Kari Lake in the 2024 Arizona senate election (which she lost to Democrat Ruben Gallego), and after Trump and his sons were found guilty of financial fraud in New York and ordered to pay approximately $454 million, Lyons reportedly set up a GoFundMe to help Trump pay off his legal judgments.
