A new study has attempted to put an end to the debate over who the greatest music producers of all time are. musicMagpie looked at 20 of the most prolific producers of the last 60 years, analyzing their long and impressive careers and pitting them against each other based on a number of different categories.
Arif Mardin came out on top as the most prolific producer, working on 1,079 different records across 13 different genres throughout his career, collaborating with household names like Aretha Franklin, the Bee Gees, Hall & Oates, David Bowie and more.

Meanwhile, The Neptunes (Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo) claimed the title of the hardest working producers, with an average of 31 different records per year, and an incredible 105 in their most productive year, 2002. (Put Jay Z, Britney Spears and N’SYNC on the list of Neptunes artists.) And when it comes to awards, nobody came close to Kanye West, who has collected over 200 different music awards in his career so far!
