The late great Carrie Fisher played many different roles throughout her career as an actress but she was best known as Princess Leia in Star Wars. That white dress with her hair coiled up like buns around her ears became an iconic look in Hollywood and American pop culture at large.
When Fisher was presented with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, her daughter, actress Billie Lourd (American Horror Stories, Scream Queens), accepted the honor on her mother’s behalf.
For the ceremony, Lourd wore a stunning cutout dress with a photo of Fisher as Princess Leia on the front skirt. It was custom made by Rodarte designers/sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy.
The designers said they were “so thrilled” to work on the dress and that it’s “a beautiful addition to the Star Wars Gowns that we made for our FW14 Collection, and truly full circle, as we were able to interview Carrie back in 2014 when we first made the pieces. What an honor!”
Swipe to see the exchange. They made Fisher’s dream come true.
As seen above, Lourd was joined at the ceremony with Star Wars robots C-3P0 and R2-D2 and Fisher’s Star Wars co-star actor Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker).
