Actress Regina Hall is hosting the 2019 BET Awards which will feature performances by super famous singers including Cardi B and DJ Khaled, and a number of emerging artists including Lucky Daye and 22-year-old Kiana Ledé.
Kiana signed her first record deal and moved to West Hollywood when 16. She didn’t get an advance with that contract so she had to get a job. In the video below, while wearing purple zebra pants!, Kiana explains that she worked at a gymnastic center and a jazz place while writing her songs.
In February, Kiana got to hear her single “Ex” on the radio for the first time and her friends caught the moment on video. The radio station was LA’s REAL923, btw. It was the ultimate carpool karaoke.

We fully heard Ex on the radio for the first time yesterday. I was fucking speechless. This has been my dream since I was literally 2. I can’t believe how far we’ve gotten. I want to say thank you for giving me this moment. Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for being there. I will never feel like I deserve the amount of love you have given me. Thank you to my friends @mandaminded and @jamar.harding for sharing this moment with me. Thank you @itschelsealena for doing this with me. And thank you @real923la for playing my music.
As an actress, Kiana is known for her roles on the Netflix series All About the Washingtons with Joseph Simmons (Run DMC’s Rev Run), and Scream: The TV Series as Zoe Vaughn, among others.
Her song “Big Spender” was featured in the 2018 film 50 Shades Freed and her song “Hey Chica” was featured in the 2013 animated film Smurfs 2. The 2019 BET Awards airs Sunday, June 23 at 8 pm on BET, MTV, and VH1.
