On the fourth night of auditions for Season 14 of America’s Got Talent, America meets 12-year-old singer Ansley Burns from Easley, South Carolina. She says she sings a lot for her school and would like to sing for the rest of her life. When she walks onto the AGT stage, she dares to sing the Aretha Franklin song “Think.”
AGT judge Simon Cowell cuts her off and apologizes but says the backing track was “horrible.” He suggests that she do it a capella and offers his water to her. She accepts the water and the challenge and nails it. What gives a little girl so much courage?
Having been praised by one of your idols (in this case Carrie Underwood) helps. When Ansley’s mother posted a video of Ansley singing Underwood’s “Cry Pretty” on YouTube, the American Idol winner posted a link to the video on Twitter and wrote: “Ansley, this is amazing! Everybody keep your eyes out for this girl!” America’s Got Talent airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
