Priyanka Chopra made jaws drop on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, but then the winner of the 2000 Miss World pageant did something so… so Miss World. She left Europe for Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, and started engaging with a culture far in many senses from the glitzy French Riviera beaches that celebrate the movies in May.
Check out Chopra below as she shares her experience dancing and immersing herself in the Ethiopian culture through dance. Chopra notes that wherever she goes, dance is a constant way of connecting — a way of connecting that goes above and beyond language barriers. She demonstrates this in the video she shares, as she dances to a mesmerizing beat and takes her cues from a gorgeous, rainbow-clad Ethiopian woman who dances like a goddess.

Dance is such an important part of Ethiopian culture. Wherever I have been so far…even though we don’t speak each other’s languages…the joy that has been shared through dance has bonded me with this amazing country forever. (Even though I’m terrible at it🤦🏽♀️😂) Ethiopia is extremely rich in culture and compassion. 🇪🇹 🙏🏽❤️ @unicefethiopia #yodabyssinia
