The protagonist of the Lifetime movie “Love You to Death” is Esme. She lives with her mother Camile (Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden, Pollack) who has Esme and the rest of the world believing that Esme is terribly ill. As Esme’s caretaker, Camile receives everyone’s sympathy and money raised in Esme’s name by charities. When Esme grows suspicious of her mother’s manipulation, Esme has her boyfriend kill Camile. Love You to Death is inspired by the true story of the late Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard and her daughter Gypsy Blanchard, who is currently serving 10 years in prison for the second degree murder of her mother.
Esme is portrayed by Emily Skeggs. On stage, the 28-year-old actress is known for her Tony Award nominated role of Medium Alison in Fun Home. The graduate of New York’s famous Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School (the Fame school) and Emerson College is also recognized for her roles in the 2018 film Mile 22 (M.I.T.) with Mark Wahlberg and the TV mini-series When We Rise (young Roma Guy/Mary Louise Parker), among others. “Love You to Death” premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, January 26 at 8 pm.
