In The Orville episode “All the World Is Birthday Cake,” the USS Orville makes “first contact” and lands on a well populated planet. The crew is welcomed at first with a banquet of food — but when Captain Ed Mercer (Seth MacFarlane) realizes there’s something off with the planet and demands to know what’s going on, the silver-haired leader with silver tattoos on his face yells, “Enough!” Hint: The title of the episode is a line from The Beatles song “It’s All Too Much” — “All the world’s a birthday cake / So take a piece but not too much.”
The silver-haired leader of the planet is portrayed by John Rubinstein. The Emmy Award nominee is known for his roles on Dear White People (President Fletcher), This Is Us (Kevin’s director Ron Schiller), Desperate Housewives (Principal Hobson), Parenthood (Principal Liam Taylor), Star Trek: Enterprise (Minister Kuvak), The Guardian (Senator Nathan Caldwell), Angel (Linwood Murrow), Crazy Like a Fox (Harrison Fox), and Family (Jeff Maitland), among many others. The Orville airs Thursdays at 9 pm on FOX.
I do not remember this AT ALL! The 1988 Liza Minnelli TV-special “Sam Found Out: A Triple Play” w/ Ryan O’Neal, Louis Gosset, Jr, & John Rubinstein. 3 one-act plays: drama, romantic comedy, musical. Clips available on YouTube https://t.co/oaWFShVwuM pic.twitter.com/C1JKautn7y
