The new CBS sitcom FAM is about a recently engaged young couple, Clem (Nina Dobrev) and Nick (Tone Bell). On the very first episode, their lives are turned upside down when they find Clem’s 16-year-old half-sister Shannon (Odessa Adlon) in their apartment. While Clem empathizes with Shannon who has escaped from “their train wreck of a dad” Freddy (Gary Cole), it won’t be easy to tame Shannon’s wild ways. Good thing Clem has Nick’s parents to turn to for parenting help. “They’re the parents of my dreams,” says Clem.
Nick’s father Walt on FAM is portrayed by Brian Stokes Mitchell. He’s known for his TV roles on Mr. Robot (Scott Knowles), The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (Trevor), and Trapper John, M.D. (Dr. Jackpot Jackson), among others. In 2000, Mitchell won a Tony Award for Best Actor (Musical) for the Broadway revival of Cole Porter’s “Kiss Me, Kate.” In 2016, he was inducted into the American Theatre Hall of Fame.

On TV, Ralph is known for her roles on Claws (Matilde), Instant Mom (Maggie Turner), Ray Donovan (Claudette), Moesha (Dee Mitchell), Designing Women (Etienne Toussaint Bouvier), and It’s a Living (Ginger St. James), among many others. FAM airs Thursdays at 9:30 pm on CBS, right after Mom and right before S.W.A.T.
