In the Season 6 premiere of The Blacklist, “Dr. Hans Koehler,” Red (James Spader) and the Task Force are looking for plastic surgeon Dr. Hans Koehler (guest star Kenneth Tigar, House of Cards) who creates new identities for wanted criminals including Bastien Moreau (Christopher Lambert). But before they find the talented doctor, Red finds himself at a bank that’s being robbed by what he considers amateurs. When one of the robbers recognizes Red, Red points out all the things they’re doing wrong while the bank is being surrounded by police. Red offers to help the robbers escape for half the cash they stole. They agree but have to move quickly. During the escape and police chase, the song “Joker & the Thief” by Wolfmother is featured.
Wolfmother is a popular hard rock band from Sydney, Australia. The song “Joker & the Thief” is from the band’s eponymous debut studio album (SEE LINK ABOVE). Story goes the lyrics refer to the lyrics of Bob Dylan’s “All Along the Watchtower.” (“Must be some kind of way out of here / Said the joker to the thief”.) The “Joker & the Thief” video was nominated for the “Best Rock Video” and “Video of the Year” awards at the 2007 MTV Australia Awards. That same year, Wolfmother’s hit song “Woman” won the Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance at the 49th Annual Grammy Awards. The Blacklist airs Thursdays at 10 pm on NBC, right after The Titan Games with host Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
