One of the four finalists of Season 15 of The Voice – Kennedy Holmes, Chevel Shepherd, Kirk Jay, Chris Kroeze – will be named the winner on the live finale on Tuesday, December 18. But before that, they’ll have to wait and watch superstars including their coaches perform on stage. Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson are singing “O Holy Night.” And new coach John Legend (who will be a Voice coach in Spring 2019) will perform “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” with Esperanza Spalding, which is on his first Christmas album “A Legendary Christmas.”
Esperanza Spalding, 34, is a three-time Grammy Award-winning artist. The jazz bassist and singer won Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards in 2011, the first for a jazz musician. She won her second Grammy for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalists for her song “City of Roses” in 2013 and her third in the same category for the song “Swing Low” in 2014.
Esperanza Spalding was a musical prodigy growing up in Portland, Oregon. She studied at Portland State University and the Berklee College of Music before being appointed Professor of the Practice of Music at Harvard University in 2017. She released her seventh solo album 12 Little Spells in October. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 pm on NBC.
