It’s time for dancers on Season 2 of World of Dance to compete head-to-head. For the duels, the judges change their clothes from the qualifiers. Ne-Yo changes his fedora, Jennifer Lopez rocks curly pin-up hairdo and princess dress, and Derek Hough sports a dark red jacket. One of the first match-ups is salsa dancers Karen Y Ricardo from Santiago, Chile vs. returning contemporary duo Luka & Jenalyn from Toronto, Canada. Keep in mind, Karen Y Ricardo received two 100 scores during the qualifiers (Derek gave them a 99!). At the duels, they’re up first and they’ve come for more 100s.
In the middle of their Duels performance, Ricardo spins Karen around so many times and so quickly, it’s humanly impossible to count. When Karen stops on a dime, JLo screams and she and Derek both jump out of their chairs. It’s worth watching (over and over again). Karen Y Ricardo receive a standing ovation from all three judges. Wouldn’t want to be in Luka & Jenalyn’s dance shoes. World of Dance moves to its new night and time — Wednesdays at 8pm on NBC.
