The protagonist of the new crime drama Instinct is Dr. Dylan Reinhart (Alan Cumming). The former CIA operative enjoys a quieter life as a college professor (teaching criminal psychopathic behavior) and author. The series is based on the James Patterson novel. But Reinhart’s life is turned upside down when approached by NYPD detective Lizzie Needham (Bojana Novakovia) who’s trying to stop a serial career who’s using Reinhart’s first book as a manual. Of course the mayor of New York City wants the killer caught, too.
Mayor Meyers is portrayed by Sarita Choudhury. Choudhury is known for her roles on hulu’s The Path (Lilith), Homeland (Mira Berenson), Blindspot (Sophia Varma), Kings (Helen Pardis), 100 Centre Street (Julia Brooks), and Homicide: Life on the Street (Dr. Kalyani), among others. Choudhury is also recognized for her roles in The Hunger Games films (Egeria), and for her debut in the art house hit Mississippi Masala with Denzel Washington (see below). Instinct airs Sundays at 8pm on CBS, right after 60 Minutes.
