American Idol is back for its sixteenth season. Ryan Seacrest is on hand to welcome the three new judges to the show — 5x Grammy Award winner Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan. (Au revoir Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez.) During the Season 16 premiere episode, the three superstar singers will watch and listen to more than a dozen aspiring musical artists. One of the most memorable is Noah Davis. Noah is from Royal, Arkansas, and he’s 18 years old.
At the microphone, before he sings, Noah whispers to himself “Wig.” Katy Perry leans in and ask Noah, “Did you just say wig?” He says proudly, “yes, I did.” Katy says, “I know, wig, I feel that already.” When Lionel and Luke ask what does that mean, Katy waves them off, “It’s not your language. It’s just for us.” Noah says to Katy, “We’re here together,” and then they exchange “I love yous.” Luke points out that Noah is “blushing just a wee bit.” Katy disregards the comment and tells Noah, “I am ready for my wig to go flying…out of this room.” In slang, ‘wig’ means that something is going so great it’ll make your wig fall off. American Idol airs Sundays at 8pm on ABC.
