On the Madam Secretary episode “Sound and Fury,” President Conrad Dalton (Keith Carradine) reacts aggressively when he learns about a sonic attack at a U.S. Embassy in Bulgaria. Thinking that Russia is to blame, Dalton threatens them with military force. When the president goes on a tirade about being “the most powerful man on earth and no one is going to stop me,” Elizabeth McCord (Tea Leoni) tries to figure out why POTUS is acting so hawkish. She turns to his wife, First Lady Lydia Dalton.
First Lady Lydia Dalton is portrayed by Christine Ebersole. The Tony Award-winning Broadway star (Grey Gardens) is known for her TV roles on Royal Pains (Ms. Newberg), Saturday Night Live (1981-1982, SNL Newsbreak Anchor), and for her film roles in The Wolf of Wall Street (Leah Belfort), Richie Rich (Macaulay Culkin’s mother Regina Rich), Tootsie (Linda), and Amadeus (Katerina Cavalieri), among others. Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 10pm on CBS, right after NCIS: New Orleans.
