There’s really no better title for the Lifetime TV movie Bad Stepmother. It’s about two siblings who return to their family’s sprawling estate in New Orleans after their father has suddenly and mysteriously died. (He “fell” to his death.) At their palatial home, Verity and Jonathan (the two rich kids) are met by Louise (Kristy Swanson), their new stepmother who proves she will stop at nothing to collect their inheritance.
The daughter, Verity, is portrayed by Sofia Vassilieva. The 25-year-old actress is known for her roles on Medium (Ariel Dubois, Patricia Arquette’s daughter), and in the 2009 film My Sister’s Keeper (sick young sister of Abigail Breslin, daughter of Cameron Diaz), among others. Fun fact: One of Vassilieva’s first roles was as Cindy Brady in the 2002 TV movie The Brady Brunch in the White House. Bad Stepmother premieres on Lifetime Movies on Friday, January 12 at 8pm.
