The new FOX drama 9-1-1 examines the lives and heroics of first-responders working in the City of Los Angeles. It takes a number of professionals to save people: starting with the dispatcher (Connie Britton) to LAPD detectives (Angela Bassett) and firefighters (Peter Krause). In the series premiere of 9-1-1, first-responder firefighters are called when a woman is being choked by a giant snake. The young and muscular firefighter Evan “Buck” Buckley suggests “just punching it in its face.” (He opts for another tactic, one that requires a lot of muscle and nerve, to resolve the problem.)
Buck is portrayed by Oliver Stark. The 26-year-old Englishman is known for his roles on AMC’s Into the Badlands (Ryder, see photo below), and in the 2016 film Underworld: Blood Wars (see link above) with Kate Beckinsale (as Gregor), among others. 9-1-1 airs Wednesdays at 9pm on FOX, right after The X-Files.
