On the Season 3 finale episode of Black Ink Crew: Chicago, “Go Ahead, Becky,” 9Mag owner Ryan Henry invites everyone to another lake house in attempt to make peace. But predictably, things don’t go as smoothly as he hoped. But beyond the lake house, the 9Mag universe does better. Luckily everyone is able to put their differences aside to honor Don’s sister, Dominique Flewellen. The Black Ink Crew: Chicago cameras were on Don when he received the call from the hospital. Flewellen had been battling depression and had taken her own life. Her body was found in the Chicago River in the Loop. Don was asked to identify the body. She was 24.
Don said of his little sister, “My sister had a beautiful heart. I know she was one of God’s angels.” Since then he has taken to social media to promote mental illness awareness (see below). Black Ink Crew: Chicago airs Wednesdays at 9pm on VH1.
