If you had to pick another name for the Lucille Ball classic I Love Lucy you might choose Misshaps. Lucy, like the YouTube Misshaps (see video below) star Kristen Hancher is always getting into them. But Hancher, the Canada-born 18-year-old who has become a massive star online, really did find herself in a mishap this week, accidentally posting some audio of her and another YouTube star, BF Andrew Gregory, getting hot and heavy. Fans were either dismayed — or wished full video had been posted. Misshaps is produced by Brat Productions.
Hancher quickly deleted the audio, asking fans to do the same: “That was totally NOT intentional,” she wote. “Delete it from your mind.” (Note how with the singular “mind” instead of “minds” Hancher practices that perfect talking-to-fans social media style, as if each individual fan is the only one she’s speaking to at any given time.) The gorgeous Hancher is impossible to ignore — the camera just lights her up. And like Lucy, in Misshaps she’s usually in a perplexed state, despite being obviously smart. It’s a winner. (Teen Vogue compared Hancher to Lucy this summer. Hancher also seems to take comic cues from Sarah Silverman and Kristen Wiig. Fancher, whose lips monopolize the camera, is also really, really good at wearing lipstick — see below) Like Lucille Ball, who ran her own production company Desilu, Hancher is a perfectionist, often spending two hours to make a 15-second video (see below). Hancher has 4 million followers on Instagram, which she says she can teach others to achieve also.
Here’s a typical example of Misshaps, just under 3 minutes long.
