In the Chicago Fire episode “An Even Bigger Surprise,” while Brett (Kara Killmer) continues to be surprised by her childhood friend Hope (Eloise Mumford), Casey (Jesse Spencer) gets off on the wrong foot with the Chief who’s temporarily filling in for Boden (Eamonn Walker).
Chief Sam Mullins is portrayed by John Gatins. The Vassar grad is best known as a writer in Hollywood. His screenplay for the 2012 film Flight starring Denzel Washington (see link above) was nominated for an Oscar. Other films he wrote include Kong: Skull Island starring Tom Hiddleston, Need for Speed starring Aaron Paul, Real Steel starring Hugh Jackman, and Coach Carter starring Samuel L. Jackson. Chicago Fire airs Thursdays at 10pm on NBC.
