In the Season 19 premiere episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, “Gone Fishin’,” Fin (Ice-T) puts on his best fedora and travels to Havana, Cuba to catch fugitive rapist Byron Marks (Will Chase). When Fin brings him back to New York to the precinct, Marks tells Benson (Mariska Hargitay), “I look forward to catching up.” He was one of Benson’s first cases. When Benson learns that Marks has a wife in Cuba (Mariela Garriga) she arranges to have her meet one of Byron’s victims, Karla Wyatt, who has a long scar on her face.
Karla Wyatt is portrayed by Amy Smart. She’s known for her roles on Justified (Allison), Shameless (Jasmine Hollander), Scrubs (Jamie Moyer), and Felicity (Ruby). Smart is also recognized for her roles in the films Crank (Eve), The Butterfly Effect (Kayleigh), and Road Trip (Beth). Fun fact: Smart is married to eco-friendly carpenter/TV host Carter Oosterhouse (photo below). Law & Order: Special Victims Unit airs Wednesdays at 9pm on NBC.
3 weeks ago this amazing woman @therealmariskahargitay came to @tcfilmfest with her doc @iamevidencethemovie A must see! Catch it when it airs on HBO. Ladies, get to know this issue and take action. There are far too many rape kits that go untested.. we need to stop this and make sure every one of them are processed and taken care of. Bravo, my new friend, for making this film! #joyfulheart #futureisfemale @thejhf
